Who Are We?

St. Brigid's Temple of the Flame is organized and operated exclusively for spiritual, charitable, literary, religious, and educational aspirations from a Pagan-based but not Pagan-exclusive outlook. St. Brigid's teaches, honors, and celebrates the spiritual and religious traditions, practices, beliefs, traditional skills, history, and values of belief structures and spiritual paths of many cultures, times, and places. Our spiritual focus is geared towards ministering to guests, members, and, where possible, the general public with understanding, tolerance, and equality without regard to gender, race, religion, sexual preference, disability, color, creed, national origin, political views, or history.

Our main focus is to encourage, promote, teach, uphold, and demonstrate, through instruction and example, balance and a life which honors the Divine in Its many names and aspects. To accomplish this we sponsor and facilitate group celebrations and functions, including Sabbats, esbats, change-of-life rituals, rites of passage, personal celebrations, weddings, handfastings, baby-namings, handpartings, funerals, national and religious holidays, seasonal markings, Earth Day celebrations, Pagan Pride Days, Gay Pride Days, and many other spiritual and magickal rites and rituals.

In keeping with many philosophies and in celebration of the creations of the Divine we honor and hold as sacred the elemental energies of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit; the Earth and all Her creatures; and all forms of life, and work to heal and protect the environment within our community, throughout our nation, and across the world.

It is our mission to create a spiritual family which will provide support to both members and the outward community in healing, growth, and aspirations. With this in mind we seek to identify, develop, and train caring clergy to serve in capacities of spiritual advisors, teachers, nurtures, healers and supporters wherever there might be a need.

We strive to teach, uphold, reinstitute, honor, and support through instruction and example the philosophies, ideologies, attitudes, and manifestations of Honor, Chivalry, Understanding, Wisdom, Respect, Discernment, Loyalty, Integrity, Love, Justice, Compassion, Fortitude, Tolerance, and Personal Spirituality.

In addition to church activities, one of the ways in which we strive to accomplish these goals is through St. Brigid's Academy, the church's teaching arm. The Order of the Huntress Moon is the charity and outreach based group which plans and executes all charity functions sponsored by the church. The Festival of the Huntress Moon is St. Brigid's first formal charity event and is scheduled to become an annual occurance. The Licorice Unicorn Covens are a specific branch of the church with a solely Pagan-centered basis. As co-sponsors of the Festival, the Covens contributed time, money, and energy to making this event a success.
